The idea to form an association was first proposed by the then Deputy High Commissioner for Srilanka in Southern India, His Excellency Mr. Vadivelu Krishnamurthy at the Srilankan Independence Dinner hosted in the month of February 2015. A few Sri Lankans working and living in South India as well Srilankans settled in India and well-wishers present there were part of the discussion.
Accordingly, the evolved idea was further developed to form an association in the name and style of The
The Sri Lankan Friendship Association of South India to congregate under the aegis of above association for mutual acquaintance and help and to provide public charity as well.
On 22 nd May 2019, The Association was legally formed, with by laws and registered under Tamil Nadu Society Registration Act, 1975 and assigned registration No. 234/2019 by the Register of Society as a Non Profitable Social Organization.
Our endeavour is to create a network among persons living in South India with any connection to Sri Lanka, either in social or business matters. In doing so, we intend to strengthen the relationship among members and in the process gain from their respective profession, trade, business and expertise for the common welfare of the association and its programs and activities.
This association intends to establish itself as a well connected network of individuals and corporates that contributes and works for the upliftment of the marginalised, deserving person. Provide support to the individuals as well as organisations that work for charitable public causes with needs and support for the upliftment of such persons in the society.
